The Sacrament of Holy Orders

Yesterday, I had the honor of being a witness to my dear friend Caroline's ordination as a Deacon in the Episcopal Church. She will serve as a deacon and then be ordained a priest. Tears fill my eyes as I think back over this amazing and blessed day not only because my friend has been ordained after a long journey of study and practice, but also because the Episcopal Church has received a true blessing in Caroline.
Caroline is someone who embodies the Light Of Christ. She truly loves her fellow man and shows Christ's love in her actions towards all people. In yesterday's Gospel reading, Jesus said that we must love EVERY man even those who may do us harm, even those who may seem impossible to love. Jesus asks us to do the IMPOSSIBLE, to love every man as we love ourselves and as Christ loves the church.
This is a hard thing to do especially when we consider that we are human and it is our human nature to not want to love every man, especially those who do us harm. But I believe God puts people on this earth like Caroline to help guide us in our journey in loving every man.
Caroline, of course is human too, but in her vow as an ordained deacon, she has promised to live by God's Holy Word and to live as He asks her to live, thus being a model for us too.
What a AWE inspiring way of life. I am blessed by Caroline that God has chosen her to help guide us in living His Holy Word.
Blessings to Caroline as she serves our Father through the sacrament of Holy Orders.

Thankyou for sharing this, Amy. I am so thankful that you have a friend and role model so wonderful as Caroline. She is also a role model to any of us who read this or would have the opportunity to know her. It is an inspiration to see someone who has answered the calling of God and has allowed Him to use them in this way.
