One of my favorite garden and gift shops here in Knoxville is in my own little neck of the woods just off Sutherland Ave.
It is called Sweet Pea and is owned and operated by Dee, one of the nicest ladies you will ever meet.Sweet Pea is one of those places you go to and you feel like you have come home, each and every time you walk through the door.
Dee's love for gardening and elegant and timeless things exudes from the shops shelves, walls, windows, and floors.
And even though the shop's merchandise changes with the seasons, somehow it is all familiar, and warm and cozy, just like home.
Each time you come, you capture that something that is is familiar, that something that is comforting, that something that makes you feel truly loved.
And that's because you know that Dee makes it that way for you. She is not just a shop owner, but a friend, and the little world she creates inside Sweet Pea is just for you, because, she actually does love you and considers you a friend.
You may meet Milo, the resident orange striped cat, curled under a table, taking in the warmth of the sun's rays.
You may even catch a glimmer of yourself peeking around the corner.
No matter when you come to Sweet Pea, you will always see Dee, whether she is present in the store or not. Dee is battling cancer right now. She is courageous and strong, but it is taking it's toll on her little body and spirit. Please pray for her. Sweet Pea is her refuge, but she is weary. Please pray for her recovery and for her health to be restored so that she too can fully enjoy the place that feels like home.
