What's Your Favorite Holiday Tune?

We've been listening to and singing holiday carols around The Avery House courtesy of Direct TV's channel 801 "Holidays and Happenings." It's so much fun to listen to these timeless carols and tunes and think about where and when you heard that song and why it was significant to you at the time. This morning, an Elvis Christmas song started playing and it immediately threw me back to my childhood growing up in Memphis and driving past Graceland to see the "Blue Christmas" that Elvis so famously sang about. There are so many wonderful carols, all with special meaning. I'd love to hear from YOU as to what are some of your favorite Christmas carols and tunes. Here are a few of my favorites.

I love the Michael Jackson version of "I saw Mommie Kissing Santa Clause" That brings chills to my soul when I hear it..., I think it is so cute and full of life....., Brings back happy memories of when we were children, in our home full of love and good times, good food and fellowship at the holiday seasons of the year. They were always special, ALWAYS.

My favorite Christmas song is "Silent Night", anybody's version, but I especially like it sung in German "Stille Nacht". The Vienna Boys Choir version is quite beautiful.

Other favorites are:

"When My Heart Finds Christmas" by Harry Connick, Jr.

"Ave Maria", "Adeste Fidelis", and "Panis Angelicus" by Luciano Pavarotti

"Christmas in Dixie" by Alabama

"Oh Holy Night" anybody's version

"I'll Be Home For Christmas" by Elvis Presley

And always -

"White Christmas" by Bing Crosby

Aunt Brenda and Mom, I love the songs you mentioned as well! I do love Pavarotti's Ave Maria. It always brings tears to my eyes and makes me think of Midnight Mass at Immaculate Conception in Memphis. Simply breathtaking that song!

O Yes Amy that song, Ava Maria, brings tears to my eyes too, it is so beautiful.

As little girls, Linda, Nancy & I would sit under the Christmas tree in our home on Vaughn with no lights on except the Christmas Tree Lights and listen to Christmas Songs late into the night on Christmas Eve, that was so special. I remember Linda shedding tears when Silent Night was being played once and that made a lasting impression on me about how touching Songs can be, beautiful as they are.
