In Full Bloom!

I promised that when my hydrangeas were in full bloom I would share them with y'all. Now is the time!
I truly wish I could have y'all over from some crumpets and tea while we took in the beauty of the hydrangeas that literally fill the perimeter of my our back yard.
This time of year will be one that I look forward to every year now, just to partake in the loveliness if these flowers.
I have been awed by the variety of color in these blooms.
They say it is the soil, so I suppose we have varying types of soil acidity side by side. Who knows? If you have any answers to why I have pink, purple and blue blooms on the same bush, please do tell. I am not complaining, though. I really love the variety of colors.

Those blooms are really so beautiful. I have become a big fan of hydrangeas, also, and, presently, I have two potted ones. I purchased a single bloom white one that I have indoors in a small pot, and I have one on my front porch that came back from last year. Last year it was pink, and before it bloomed this year I added some stuff to the soil to change the acidity. Now the plant has a variety of shades of lavender and some are approaching a shade of blue. My theory is it has something to do with the roots that feed each bloom. Some of the roots are getting more of the solution that turns them to blue. That is probably why some of yours are pink and blue on the same plant. The roots of one plant are in different kinds of soil. This is just my theory. Someone that knows more about the hydrangea can tell you for sure. Anyway, I love this plant, and yours are wonderful!!!

Yesterday one of the Professors here at the University was telling me about her blue, blue, very blue hydrangeas. She said she adds chips of metal to the soil and adds a blue food coloring to the soil also, she said she uses old nail pieces and so on, things that won't cut or hurt you later to her soil and it has always worked to make the bluest blue and the envy of her neighborhood. I love all colors thou. Your mom has a beautiful white, white one, it is so white it is awesome. I have never seen one that clearly white, it is so pretty. That's my knowledge of coloring. Your's are certainly awesome and I love the picture you sent looking out at your flower garden, how restful and peaceful can that be along with some lovely music and tea and all the trimmings....

Love always, Aunt Brenda
