Just One

Keeping up with this 365 project has been easy at times and hard at times. I feel it necessary to accompany my photos with commentary, something wonderful to say about the image, something profound perhaps to evoke emotion. It seems when it is hard to keep up with this project, the words just don't come. It's not that I have nothing to say. It's just that sometimes, I really just want to put up just one photo, and that's it. If that happens, then you will know that is where I am at for the day. Just one is just fine.

Modern Art

Howie's Favorite section of the Met was the Modern Art exhibit! There were wonderful pieces of art and he really enjoyed viewing each piece and reading about their history. More to come in the Modern Art soon!

Relaxation for the Soul

What is it about the beach and ocean that gives our mind a rest and allows us to be renewed in spirit? The sound of the waves as they crest and crash upon the shore, the warmth of the sun on our face, the coolness of the wet, gritty sand upon our feet, the cry of the seagull over head, all of these things give our mind a chance to rest and a chance to slow down a bit and just be. I miss those long morning walks on the beach, and look forward to returning there soon. Howie also had a morning ritual at thebeach of riding on his bike along the shore. I think it did his spiriy good to be by himself, riding along the beach and just enjoying some relaxation for the soul.

The Grill Master

So I want to give my sweet husband a shout out. Today is this special guy's birthday and the ladies of "The Avery House" really hope he has a birthday as awesome as he is.

One of Howie's favorite things to do is to grill out. He's not fancy about it and doesn't require a charcoal grill or green egg (although he would not be opposed to either of those).  Howie likes his Weber gas grill which he received for his birthday a few years ago.

And I have to say, I definitely love when Howie gets his grill groove going.

The food is always great and, hey, I don't have to cook.

 We are all looking forward  to a long season of grilling out with our very own "Grill Master!" Happy Birthday Howie!

Speed Racer

Howie finally received his present from Santa, a professional racer radio control car. It is the car of his boyhood dreams and he has had a blast playing with it since it came out of the box. It can go as fast as 60 miles per hour and is able to drive on any type of surface. Howie has returned to being a kid again, and although the car somewhat scares Sophie, we are all enjoying watching that car go.

Happy Birthday Howie!

Today is Howie's birthday. He is turning 8 according to Emma-Caroline, who said when asked how old she thought her daddy was, "Well, Daddy's big, he's even bigger than you, so he must be eight."
Howie is a wonderful father and husband. He works very very hard for our family and has been supportive of me staying home to be with our girls. Howie is a fun-loving dad who would lasso the moon for any of his girls. He is my best friend and I am so happy that I have him in my life.

Howie we all hope you have a very happy birthday. We love you very much!
